Candy-sweet Class

For those that want to indulge in one of Summer’s biggest
trends, but aren’t feeling ready to dip their toes into the sea
of Aztec and animal prints currently doing the rounds on the
high-street, then the new season palette may be just what the
Doctor ordered. This Summer’s cool ice cream shades come in
pastel hues of pink, blue and yellow. Washing over every item
imaginable from romantic dresses, to the teeniest of shorts,
to headbands and bags, candy-sweet colours have never
looked so good. For the paler of complexion, a pair of sprayon
skinnies or floaty chiffon skirt will keep lighter shades
away from the face and prevent looking washed-out. Ease
yourself into the trend with choice accessories and build up
from there. Mixing and matching different colours is fine, but
steer away from pairing two shades of the same colour together, a
feat similar to the dreaded double-denim disaster.

To get this stylish look try this Yellow lace top £19.99, Collarless white contrast trim cardigan £22.99, Zebra print waist belt £3.99, Pastel pink pencil skirt £19.99, Cream envelope clutch bag £12.99, Black court shoes £29.99 all from New Look.

Furry Decadent

Get ready to indulge yourself this autumn with
sumptuous clarets and burgundies mixed with
tweeds, furs and feathers. The shops are marking the
end of the bright, playful summer with earthy clothes that have
a hint of masculinity about them: loose trousers in muddy
browns, severe greys and rusty reds; flat shoes and chunky
boots; expensive cloths layered with hardwearing tweed and
decadent furs; and unashamedly clashing colours.
Debenhams Autumn/Winter collection includes sharp trousers and
Doublebreasted jackets that can be combined with fake furs for an
androgynous look.

Girl-Boy

Forget boys – it’s their wardrobes we’re flirting with this season. Mash Teddy Boy with Psychobilly, Mod with New Wave, and make like a spiffy Savile Row habitué.

The androgynous trend can pretty much kick it on any style scene, but you’ll really impress suited and booted at job interviews.

Chic and cheerful

If you’re short of cash yet still want to look fab, it pays to be clever with your shopping. The first rule when shopping on a budget is to beware of trying to economise by loading up with lots of cheap clothes. Instead, make sure you have your wardrobe essentials such as good-fitting jeans (Peacocks has some great pairs for as little as £12!), plain tops that can be teamed with lots of items (New Look is your best bet here) and a short dress.

Why the short dress? Well, it can be worn in a multitude of ways. For example, this lovely white v neck dress from H&M can be worn alone as a dress or worn over a pair of trousers for a funky look. By wearing a belt with it you can change the look as often as you like – Next has some fab, bright, patent belts that would be perfect.

Fashion Fest….

Festival fever has arrived. We’ve got Glastonbury, V, Bestival, Reading and many, many others to enjoy over the next few months and quite frankly we’re excited. And not just because it means days of lying in fields listening to brilliant bands, but because it also means we need to buy a festival wardrobe. Yup, we are that shallow.

First things first: remember to cater for the great British summer. You need wellies AND flipflops if you want to protect against the mud but still have footwear that will let your feet breathe. Also needed is a coat that will protect you from the rain: Debenhams have a great range of parkas that fit the bill perfectly.

Little dresses are a fab idea as they don’t trail in the mud and will keep you cool, and can easily be layered over jeans when the cooler evenings set in – pop along to River Island for a good selection. To cover your legs then turn-ups are a good call (we like Jane Norman’s jeans), or if you want to flash your pins then go for Topshops’s hotpants.

Layers of t-shirts and jumpers will give you lots of flexibility, and to personalise your look add masses of bracelets, headbands and necklaces (Accessorize is the place to forage for these).

Our final tip is to take some cosy pyjamas. You’ll be grateful for them when you stagger back to your tent and want a good night’s sleep in dry, comfortable clothes. Rock on!

Even if you haven’t received your invitation to the royal wedding, there’s nothing to stop you dressing up and joining in the fun. What us fashionistas really want to talk about is what we’d wear if we got an invite to the royal wedding. Given that Kate is noted for her style we think she’d thoroughly approve of the regally purple jumpsuit from River Island. If something more formal is required, than we think royal blue (of course) cocktail dress from Jane Norman would be a fabulous choice.

A modern yet stylish ensemble for any wedding is trouser or skirt/jacket combo. Hobbs comes up trumps here with a gorgeous white tailored jacket and skirt in that can be teamed with this bright colourful top for a stunning and stylish look.

For the man the choice is simpler: find a classic yet cool suit. We’re loving this piped suit with its schoolyard undertones from Next.

For those of you who aren’t invited, why not see the royal wedding as the perfect excuse to throw a party with your mates, dress up to the nines and raise a celebratory glass of champagne. Cheers!

Our guide to wearing orange…

Orange is a key colour this spring, but you dont want to end up looking like you belong in a fruit bowl, so follow up guide to ensure you get the look just right!

1) If you are opting for an orange dress then ensure you add some coloured accessories.  Try lemon yellow heels and a thin brown leather belt to cinch in the waist.

2) If you choose a shirt then pair it up with cropped trousers, beige works best. For a more glamorous take on the outfit, accessorise your look with a pair of Fifties-style bow courts.

3) If you want a more casual edge then we recommend you layer an oversized blazer over your brightly coloured outfit and accessorise with some summery wedges and chunky bangles.

4) If your not quite daring enough to go the whole way, then add a splash of orange in your accessories.
